Total sales for all stores in December 2010 stood at 153,143 million yen, a 6.8% increase on a year-on-year basis. Consolidated net sales for the existing stores climbed 3.9% year on year. Average daily sales per stores (all stores) were 525,000 yen. The average number of customers per store (existing stores) rose by 2.1% compared with the same month last year to 868, and average sales per customer (existing stores) grew 1.7% year on year, to 584 yen.

Net sales for the existing stores in the LAWSON STORE 100 chain increased 2.4% from a year earlier, while the number of customers rose by 3.1% and sales per customer fell by 0.7%, respectively.

Sales of cigarettes increased by about 10%, showing an earlier-than-expected recovery. Sales of non-tobacco products also increased year on year.

Sales in the rice dishes and noodles category were higher than a year earlier. Cooked noodles and pasta enjoyed strong sales, driven by the Pasta-ya line that offers Baked Carbonara with Silky Egg Sauce. Onigiri rice balls and luxury lunch boxes which were more than 500 yen also recorded solid sales.

Sales of the over-the-counter fast food category grew significantly on a year-on-year basis. L-Chiki fried chicken and Karaage-kun fried chicken continued to experience strong sales while Oden hot pot also contributed to the performance.

The dessert category recorded far higher sales than a year earlier, continuing to show strong performance even after the first anniversary of its renewal, marked by the launch of the Uchi Cafe SWEETS line. This can be attributed to the continued strong sales of our original desserts, especially the Premium Roll Cake Series, including the new product Uji Green Tea and Black Sesame Roll Cake.

As of December 31, 2010, the LAWSON Group was comprised of 9,963 stores in Japan, including 91 NATURAL LAWSON stores, 994 LAWSON STORES 100 stores and 45 SHOP99 stores.

Ninety-nine Plus Inc. operated a total of 1,039 stores, of which the number of new stores and closed stores were 9 and 0, respectively.

LAWSON continues the Miffy Mug Cup Campaign through January 24, 2011.
