Total sales for all stores in May 2011 stood at 152,100 million yen, a 7.5% increased on a year-on-year basis. Consolidated net sales for the existing stores increased 5.0% year on year.  Average daily sales per stores (all stores) were 520 thousand yen.  The average number of customers per store (existing stores) rose by 1.3% compared with the same month last year to 895, and average sales per customer (existing stores) also rose 3.6% year on year, to 561 yen.

Net sales for the existing stores in the LAWSON STORE 100 chain decreased 1.0% from the same period of the previous year, while the number of customers fell by 1.6% and sales per customer rose by 0.6%, respectively.

Sales of cigarettes increased by approximately 25%, showing contribution to recovery of the number of customers per store year on year.

Sales in the rice and noodles category continued positive growth year on year because of the recovery of product supplies. In particular, Ikura-Koboshi of Niigata-grown Koshihikari Rice balls, Pasta Salad Series and Short Pasta showed a significant contribution to the growth in sales.

Sales in the over-the-counter fast food category and the dessert category continued to increase greatly year on year.

Because of K-ON! Fair’s popularity, sales in handy sweets and snacks increased year-on-year basis for the first time since February, 2011.

As of May 31, 2011, the LAWSON Group was comprised of 10,017 stores in Japan, including 91 NATURAL LAWSON, 1,065 LAWSON STORE 100 and 3 SHOP99.

Ninety-nine Plus Inc. operated a total of 1,068 stores, of which the number of new stores and closed stores were 9 and 1, respectively.

LAWSON is running the Spring Rilakkuma Campaign from March 1 through June 27, 2011.
